Vaccination Requirements and Information
At All Cats HealthCare Clinic our doctors and staff are very concerned about vaccine-related sarcomas. Due to this risk, our doctors have delveloped vaccine protocols that can be tailored to fit each cat's lifestyle, in order to avoid over-vaccination. Every patient fit to receive vaccines is required to be current on Rabies and Distemper vaccines, and authorization to administer these vaccines should be given at the time of your pet's appointment if tey are due. Any pet allowed access to the outdoors should also be vaccinated for Feline Leukemia. Currently, the Rabies vaccine is available as a 1-year non-adjuvanted vaccine and as a 3-year adjuvanted vaccine. Studies have shown that an adjuvanted vaccine is more likely to develop a sarcoma than a non-adjuvanted vaccine. Based on this information, our doctors believe that it is in the patient's best interest to be vaccinated annually with a 1-year non-adjuvanted vaccine, rather than a 3-year adjuvanted vaccine.
